Rejoicing in the Triumph of Truth

Psalm 63:11 – “But the king will rejoice in God; all who swear by God will glory in him, while the mouths of liars will be silenced.”

After a psalm filled with longing, praise, and trust in God through hardship, David ends on a triumphant note. “The king will rejoice in God.” Though pursued and exiled, David’s confidence rests not in circumstances, but in the character of God. His joy is rooted in truth’s ultimate victory.

Psalm 5:11 echoes this declaration: “Let all who take refuge in you be glad.” The joy of those who love and trust God is not shallow or circumstantial—it’s eternal and deeply rooted in His justice and faithfulness.

Matthew Henry beautifully writes, “The joy of the king in God becomes the joy of all God’s people.” David’s personal praise invites a communal celebration. All who swear by the Lord—those who align themselves with His truth—“will glory in him.”

Donald Coggan notes, “To swear by God is to align with His truth. Their reward is glory; the liars’ reward is silence.” There will come a day when deceit is shut down, and only the voice of truth will remain.

Charles Spurgeon adds, “The righteous king finds joy, not in victory over men, but in the triumph of God’s truth.” We are not called to delight in personal vindication, but to rejoice when God’s truth prevails.

Prayer:

Lord, let my joy be found in You alone. Help me to align with Your truth and live with integrity. Silence every lie, and let Your glory shine through my life and the lives of all who trust in You.Amen.
